4th of July

The very best place to celebrate the 4th of July is the Polo Fields - well that's my opinion anyway and I think I share it with many other folks who live in our neck of the woods. Here's what the Lions Club of one of the little local towns does... they collect your $10 as you drive in and then they direct you to park in many lines right on the polo fields - yes we are sophisticated enough to have polo fields here in our neck of the woods but not so sophisticated not to drive on them. This has always baffled me. Doesn't this ruin or in some way compromise the integrity of the polo field? Must not. This year, they had a game the very next day. So anyway, I just love being out in a big field with good friends, a WHOLE bunch of food and plenty of blankets and sweatshirts, because in our neck of the woods, it gets down right cold on July 4th. We're lucky it didn't snow.
Tammy does a much better job of telling the story - she's got writing and typing skillz that I do not possess... so get a cup of coffee and settle in to her blog:

Yes - that is Jack with two -- count 'em -- TWO hot dogs... where's his mother? When we eat at home with plates and silverware, his mother cuts those hot dogs up into little pieces for him... hmmmm...?

Meg enjoys some down time in her new favorite chair (she's graduated from that little pink thing on the left) and works on her summer challenge of completing the whole A-Z mystery series this summer.
Dave and Jack enjoyed some quality guy time:
And one of the favorite things we did was to push each other around in a big ol' Tonka truck... I love the looks on Ella's face!

And then it started to get chilly - Hayden got his blanket out...
And so did the Michaud family...

And did you see the wrestlin' that went on on Tammy's blog?
And then it started to get a tiny bit dark so the parents pulled out their various forms of glow sticks - we had plain old glow sticks, we had glow stick jewelry (ear rings, nose rings, necklaces, bracelets) and we even had these little tiny finger flashlights that weren't glow sticks at all but SOMEONE had to out-do the other parents and probably got to Walmart too late to get regular old glow sticks - TAMMY! My kids are still carrying those things around and shining them in everyone's faces!

Oooo the time for fireworks must be drawing near...
And you can read about what happened here on Tammy's blog.
