Angostura Resevoir near Hot Springs SD

The first stop on the Crazy 10 Days in the Camper:

We had a mini Hubert family reunion over the weekend of Aug 1st --- we all met up at Angostura and enjoyed some cool weather, some hot weather, s'mores by the fire, good food, bike riding, and relaxing by the lake.

Ella wasn't too crazy about getting into the lake --- many poky things on the beach and mud and yuck (which is exactly why I didn't get in but I didn't tell her that!!!) So her amazing, thoughtful, and kind (I could go on and on!) cousin, Allie, took her by the hand and they went in together.

Meg, on the other hand, had a blast!!! I had to keep reminding her not go go out so far - her comment was always, "I have my life jacket on..." She was oblivious to the boats speeding by...

The girls all gave themselves mud baths while Jodi and Tim looked on...

She might be gettin' old...

but Brook still loves to play fetch!!! She turned 11 in March and we have noticed that she's slowed down a bit but not too much!!!

She still has the same intensity in her eyes and will stare you down or poke you with the stick until you throw it! She loves to work. She is truley an amazing dog. I watch her as Jack gets to know her by crawling over her and pulling her hair and poking her eyes... she is so patient and kind. Can't imagine what it will be like when she is gone...

Crazy 10 Days in the Camper!!

More Piney Creek fishin!

Dave has been really taking advantage of the cooler weather and the amazing fishing on Piney Creek. Rich joined Dave Monday night. I think he had a good time, too! :)

He's even taking me out on Wednesday night! We'll see how that goes...

Ella ridin' bike

We have enjoyed a few family bike rides with Ella riding on the trailer-bike with Dave and Jack in the baby seat with me...

It's been fun to go as a family ... and frightening at times!!! Try to teach a 6 year old about traffic patterns is tricky!!! It will be really nice when the paths around town are completed!

8 months old

Seriously... where does the time go??? My little Jack-man is already 8 months old. He is sooo much fun! As you can see in the video below, he is scooting along - not quite crawling but getting around so much that we are now closing his bedroom door so that he will not take a dive down our steep back staircase that happens to be right outside his room.

His favorite thing is clapping - but I couldn't get him to do it on the video - and waving!!! The girls LOVE the waving! He is tooo cute!

He's also ridden in the lil seat on the back of the bike and enjoys his swing outside on our swingset.

His favorite foods are yogurt and beans - quite a combo, hm?

Jeremy and Dave go fishin' at Kirk's

Dave and Jeremy went out to Kirk's place to do some fishin' on Saturday morning. Dave said he caught about 5 - none of which were smaller than 18 inches and as big as 22 inches - and Jeremy caught 6 or 7...

I know that they had a good time!!!

We had a grand time with the Christopherson family on the mountain last weekend - the guys took the girls fishing and had much success at Bear Lodge pond. Unfortunately, the Hubert clan all picked up a summer cold as well...

Rodeo Parade

And what's rodeo weekend without the parade --- people begin Thursday afternoon setting up their chairs along Main street for the Friday 10am parade... People also begin drinking at about 7 am on Friday morning... It's kind of like Frontier Days but in a smaller town!

The parade theme was "You Can Bet On It" because you could place bets on the timed events at the rodeo this year for the first time. So, First Interstate Bank went with the Vegas theme...

"What happens at the rodeo stays at the rodeo!!!"

The "Big Elvis" in this video is actually Dave's boss - Bill!!!

Sheridan WYO Rodeo and Carnival

Jack rode patiently along - probably the worst seat as he was down inhaling the dust as everyone walked through the carnival grounds... ugh...

This pic of Meg was taken right before the scary carny (how do you spell that anyway?!) got in Meg's face and said, "You will sit still." ???? And let's just confirm that Meg had more teeth than the carny lady had!!! Those people are scary......

Our evening at the carnival ended with Meg, Ella and I riding the YoYo Swings - you know the ones on chains that go up high and around and around in a big circle. I'm thinking I can handle it... not so much - about half way through, I knew I was in trouble... As soon as we got off, I told Dave, "I'm going to vomit - let's go..." (we were all out of tickets anyway!!!) As we proceeded to our vehicle, we ran into some friends and tried to have a conversation... I had to tell her, "dude - I'm going to be sick and can't concentrate on a word you're saying..." How pathetic am I? And I was still woozy the next day!!!

I just hope that I can still ride the big roller coasters --- someday....???

Sheridan WYO Rodeo -- it's a good time!!! Indian Relay Races, steer and calf ropin', bare back ridin', saddle bronc ridin', and of course, some bull ridin'!!! All of this from a girl who used to have "TREEHUGR" on her license plates!

4th of July with Wayne and Sandy

After Dave and I made a quick trip to just south of Billings for a wedding, we all headed out to join the masses at the Polo fields for the festivities. We enjoyed music by the Teka Brock Band and just hangin' out ---

I loved how there was a full moon right next to all of the fireworks going off in the sky!!!

Jack cuddled with Wayne most of the night (can you see his little hat there under the blankets?)--- and during the fireworks, Jack woke up for a little while and watched the fireworks and then would doze in and out. He wasn't bothered a bit!

This is the finale, I believe... this is also when Ella proclaimed, "It's just like the sky is tooting..."

my lil Gardener

Ella, Sandy and I went out to Bradford Brinton on Friday morning to check out the progress of the garden. Meg, my lil gardener really enjoys here time with her fellow Garden Gnomes!

And here's a shot of our garden at home - a bit smaller than the one at B.B.!!! It is coming along nicely. We have harvested some lettuce and spinach and just saw the first zucchini flower today!!! Very exciting!

Jack is 7 months old... yikes...almost 8!!!

Jack is soooo close to crawling!!! He loves to be on his tummy and then to get up on his toes and then onto all fours... he's doing the rocking thing... and giggling... Ugh. He is sooo much fun!
