Messing with dSLR and Adobe Photshop Elements

Nina let me borrow her dSLR the other day - FUN FUN! I knew I wanted to get some pics of the kids in the leaves before Dave mowed them all up... even Brook got in on the fun! Most everybody was a good sport for the first 10 minutes! I didn't get a lot of great expressions but some cute fall pictures anyway...

This dog is the greatest - and she's always been pretty photogenic --- the magic word is "frisbee?" and her ears go right up... unless she's tired...

I took a whole bunch of pictures and then put them into PhotoShopElements and started to play - this is the most I've ever done with the program... just messing around until I learn what to really do in my class that begins in January!

Did something weird with the lighting on this one of Dave... do you think Photo Shop can work on the bald-head glare??? :) Love that guy!!!!

Couldn't see Ella's face in these until I did some shadow lightening...

Learning a lot about shadows - sometimes I like 'em... a lot of times I don't... but I can fix those on Photo Shop... this one - you could hardly see lil Jack's face because of the shadow...

Lesson learned: Nina's camera with the telephoto lens auto-focuses on what is in the little square that I see when I look in the view finder... don't know enough Photo Shop to know if I can sharpen up Jack -- tried the auto-sharpen tool and it didn't affect it... can't wait to learn if it's possible!

Very little PhotoShop on this one - maybe a little bit of shadow lightening... think I might mess with the tone of his skin color.

Gotta work more on the shadows in this one...

I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of those leaves!

Beautiful Brook! Seriously, the best dog in the world. She should pose for a Border Collie calendar!

Jack's favorite thing right now is balls --- he loves to chase them around the house and the yard and on the trampoline ---- He can't quite say the "b" sound yet but the girls and I are workin' on him!

The glasses glare??!!? Can't wait to start my class so I can learn how to get rid of that!

Think I will crop this one... crop Jack out...

Ella is a good sport... she just kept looking and smiling - this is as the smile is beginning to fade...

Love the butt shot! Even better with a lil boy peakin' over the shoulder!

Meg just loves to pack Jack around! Lucky for her, he tolerates it pretty well!

So, love this one of Meg but how do I get rid of the glare on her glasses???

That look is the one he has on his face when he's saying "dalll" which translates to "ball" or anything round, hence the pumpkin. Lots of shadows that were very dark - now just a shadow instead of completely darkening his face.

So these two had even worse shadows --- love Jack standing by the pumpkin - again, not the best expressions on his cute face but shows ya how he is climbing steps and pulling himself to standing on anything that will hold still long enough to hold him up!

Were you ever so early that you were late???

So we set out for a birthday breakfast for Meg at 8:30ish -- plenty of time to get breakfast and make it to church by 10:15 (yes, we did skip Sunday school at 9)... and because we were early getting done with breakfast and had a little bit of extra time, we thought we'd take the long way around to church -- driving around Sheridan is one of the Hubert fam's favorite past times --- seriously. So, Jack napped, Meg chatted with our good friend Jill on the phone and we took in the beautiful scenery! And I just happened to still have Nina's camera and it was in the car because we were taking it back to her at church... so we stopped to snap a few shots ---and ended up at church around 10:45... still singing going on so it wasn't too obvious!

I really haven't edited any of these - just some cropping here and there...

Can you believe my girl is seven years old??? I can't.

She came home from school yesterday with a note from a friend in her class. She told me it was a center activity - they had to write a note to another person in their class and they chose who to write a note to by choosing their popsicle stick out of the jar...

Meg's note said: Dear Meg, You are a good friend. You look beautiful today. -Maddox.

When she read it to me in the car when I picked her up, she told me that her heart was just pumping because that was the first time that a boy - ya know, not in her family - told her that she was beautiful.

Omigoodness... it starts early.

And she is - what can you say???

The girls found a big beetle in the middle of the road and stopped to investigate!

I think it looks neat with the country road spread out in front of us...

He also didn't know about the telephoto lens... I might zoom in on some of these when I figure out how to edit them!

Soccer in Sheridan in October

So this October is going on record as the earliest that it's been this cold. Our low the other night was 8 degrees -- that's more like January and February weather!!!

Needless to say, soccer must go on! We had to postpone a few games due to snow (we've already had 3 storms move through ...).

This week is supposed to be in the 50's in the afternoons so we'll probably have a game every night! :)
