Girls' Day in Billings

We took a trip to Billings with Tara, Ashton, and Adison to celebrate Ashton's 6th birthday!

Girl Hike #1

We took our first Girl Hike of the year today -- we headed up to Story and had a picnic and then hiked around in different spots including up Piney Creek and Penrose Trail. The girls - and their Moms - thoroughly enjoyed being out in the "warm"(finally) weather.

YUM!!! I think we're getting it mastered!!! I have decided that the chocolate has to be melted just a bit before it all goes together --- Meg and Ella enjoyed licking the chocolate from around the edges of the graham crackers!

Meg's got it!!! She is doing very well riding her bike and made it all the way around the loop at the campground - even the uphill part!! And Ella is an amazing cheerleader!

It's the braking we need to work on now...

Tongue River Reservoir Trip #2

We spent the whole weekend out at Tongue River Reservoir this weekend. We headed out around 5 on Friday evening and were happy to have the Kothe family (Michelle, Aaron, Madeline, and Sophia) join us for grilled burgers and s'mores.


We had a GREAT site on Sand Point - on the edge of the park with a wonderful view of the lake. It was pretty quiet and private, for camping at the resevoir. The weather wasn't too bad with just a bit of rain Friday and Saturday evenings - in fact, Saturday was beautiful. Dave and the girls were able to fish and caught bullheads and croppie. But we were still surprised at how many people were actually in the water.
Saturday evening, we each took a shower - there was enough hot water for all of us!!! Friday night I told Dave that my favorite part of the camper was the potty. Saturday, after my shower, I told him that I just loved the whole bathroom!!!! It hardly seems like we can call it camping!!! We are getting very spoiled by the new camper - and loving every minute of it!

Thermopolis WY

We took a quick afternoon trip over to Thermop on Sunday.

We enjoyed the park, the hot pools and the walking area. What a neat little town!

The Thrill Seeker

So in character, it doesn't compare to the Airstream but it makes up for that in convenience and practicality. I cannot tell you how nice it is for a pregnant lady to get up at 3am and go to the bathroom without having to go outside and the floor was even warm!!!

We got our new camper on the Friday before Memorial Day weekend and it was cold and rainy, still, here in Sheridan. We promised Meg that we'd take it out before the weekend was over and as we were leaving for church Sunday morning, she was so excited and stated that it was a perfect day for camping (despite the heavy cloud cover and forecast for rain all day). So Sunday evening at about 6pm, we headed out to Tongue River Resevoir. The evening turned out to be a beautiful one with only a slight breeze and a bit chilly but no rain!!! We roasted hot dogs and marshmallows on the fire and then ate them in the comfort of the heated camper - along with the baked beans that I zapped in the microwave! :)

We stayed warm and cozy overnight and only woke up to a bit of wind and some light rain.

The next morning we enjoyed breakfast in the warmth of the camper and then some hot chocolate after a chilly walk to the marina.

We packed up and Dave had very little trouble figuring out the "black water" tank and as we were pulling out of the state park, it began to sprinkle. Meg told Dave and me, "next time you want to go camping, you guys should really check the weather." Oh the wisdom of a five year old!

We look forward to many more weekends of fun and adventure!! We hope you can join us!!!

Bubbles

Meg's preschool class does a bubble party at the end of every year and they put the kids in these huge bubbles!!!

DUCKLINGS!

My dear friend Jill hatched ducklings, goslings, and pheasant with one of the 5th grade classes at her school this year. This has been an annual spring thing for the Hubert girls and we look forward to it every year! Thank you Jill for sharing this awesome experience with us!!!!

Meg is doing even better than this now - a few weeks later!!! She is so persistent -- climbing right back on the bike after she crashes without any hesitation --- I'm so proud of her!!

Big Horn River Float Trip

Dave and his Dad went on a guided float trip on the Big Horn River this past Sunday with Bob Krumm.

They had a great time stating that there were no small fish to catch! One of Wayne's fish was said to have at least a 10" girth.

Needless to say, I'm sure we will be camping close to the Big Horn River this summer!!!

The Tooth is OUT!!

So Meggie pulled her own tooth on the 14th of April - she told us it wasn't ready and then about 15 minutes later, she came downstairs with a bloody mouth and a tooth in her hand... "I just twisted and twisted until it came out......"

The tooth fairy came and left a 50 cent piece and 2 quarters - but that wasn't what she wanted everyone to know about the tooth fairy coming -- "She didn't take my tooth... I think she was tired and couldn't carry it..."

She now has two more loose teeth -- all on the bottom - and you can bet that the tooth fairy will take those teeth!!!

You rented a what?!?!

So, Dave rented a cherry picker to clean up the trees in our yard. He spent most of his weekend 50-60 feet above the Earth with a chain saw in his hands!!!
Now our trees look better but we've got a yard full of branches to clean up!!!

Out with the Airstream...

So, many of you know that we own a 1968 Airstream camper trailer and that we've loved the uniqueness of it - and it's many nicknames (Silver Twinkie, Baked Patata, etc....)

Sadly, we've decided we don't have the time to put into the Airstream to make it as user friendly as something new will be so we've upgraded to a 2007 Travelstar Toy Hauler.

Meg's First Loose Tooth!!!

So on the way home from preschool on Monday, Meg told me that they had apples for snack and that it kind of hurt her front bottom tooth. So I told her we'd look at it when we got home. Then she said, I think it's loose. I didn't even think for a second that it would be but sure enough, as soon as I parked the van in the driveway, she unbuckled herself and we checked and it's loose!! She was so excited that she jumped up and bumped her head on the ceiling of the van - TWICE!

New Baby in November

So not sure who all knows but we are going to have Sheridan Hubert baby #3 somewhere around November 18, 2008.
Here is his/her first picture taken this morning -- always love these things --- makes it look like an alien or peanut or something...
Head on the right, little body to the left - could even see the spine and the little heart just beating away at 170 bpm.
Doctor says everything looks good - and the morning sickness that lasts all day -- a good sign of a healthy pregnancy - and she gave me some suggestions and some good meds if needed!!!

Back Home.......

So we returned home to Sheridan on Good Friday and it snowed about 5 inches that night!!! The girls were so excited to be able to play in the snow again after a month of playing in the sand and heat. This snowman was about 10 feet tall!!!!
