The Foyer

So we began peeling off the wallpaper in the foyer --- this is a MESSY job... not hard. Not technical.  Just messy and painstaking.  Luckily, whoever hung the wallpaper that we took down, had already removed the very old stuff.  There was only one layer (in our old house, we removed literally 8-10 layers of old, OLD velvet wallpaper from every surface of every room -- including the ceilings!).  Whenever we remove wallpaper, my fear is always that the plaster is going to come crumbling down... and don't get me wrong, there is always plaster repair but nothing like what my imagination has conjured up!

Step one --- get it very wet.  Step two --- peel and pick and peel and pick...

And then clean it all up ... I  must say, sticky, wet and clumpy old wallpaper is one of the worst messes to clean!  And then wash all of the glue and gunk off the walls... then put plastic up everywhere again and begin painting!

And keep painting -- I am really good at the detail work!  Dave usually does the rollering and I cut in  ---

And then take time to let the kids help --- this is really hard for me!  ;)  but they love to feel like they've helped - even if it's for 5 minutes!

And then call 6 of your buddies and say, "wanna help move a piano??"

And then sit back and listen while your girls pound away, trying to remember Mary Had a Little Lamb!!! ;)

So, there's the foyer... painting is done. Pictures are hung. Some furniture is moved in there... and we're not quite sure what we think of it so there are no "After" pictures yet!  ;)
Oh, and we need a doorbell...
